General
What does success with Axon Optics glasses look like?
Migraine and light sensitivity can be complex and success can be measured in many ways.
Axon Optics glasses contain Avulux Migraine & Light Sensitivity lenses which were made to help people with migraine and light sensitivity get through their days without having to isolate in a dark room.
Certain wavelengths of light have been shown to worsen migraine headache pain and even incite migraine attacks. Our lenses precisely filter light at certain areas in the visible light spectrum, they can be worn indoors or outdoors without distorting how you perceive color, and may help people living with migraine.
Whether it's being able to spend your time with family and friends, being able to work under harsh lighting, reducing the impact of light on your daily activities, or walking outside without fear of light, we recognize all of these as successes. We offer a 60 day money-back guarantee so you can be sure you're happy with your Axon Optics glasses.
What if I don’t currently wear glasses? What if I wear contact lenses
No problem! If you don't wear prescription glasses or if you wear contact lenses, we offer non-prescription Axon glasses through our shop.

Why shouldn’t I just wear sunglasses
Wearing sunglasses can dark adapt your eyes. Consistently wearing sunglasses can significantly prevent light across the visible spectrum from entering your eyes which can make you even more sensitive to light. This increase in light sensitivity could more easily trigger migraine symptoms and increase light-triggered pain.
If you're currently wearing sunglasses, or dark glasses, indoors, wear your Axon Optics glasses for at least 2-3 weeks to allow your eyes to adapt to the lighter tint.
Can I wear Axon Optics glasses continuously? Indoors or outdoors?
Yes.
You can wear Axon Optics glasses continuously whether you're indoors or outdoors. Wearing the glasses will not dark adapt your eyes (you will not become more light sensitive).
We encourage you to wear your glasses during any triggering activities like extended screen time, when exposed to harsh artificial light, or even under sunlight.
If not worn continuously, be sure to wear your Axon Optics glasses as soon as you feel any migraine or light sensitivity symptoms.
Note: Due to the precision filtration properties of the Avulux lens, Axon Optics glasses are not suitable for driving.
What is the best way to clean and take care of my glasses?
Proper lens care:
- When glasses are worn often, they tend to accumulate oil and debris. Be sure to use cool water to gently rinse the debris off your lenses prior to wiping them.
- Make sure you're using a clean microfiber or lint-free cloth (if the cleaning cloth has accumulated oil and debris, it's best to launder it prior to using it).
- Use the clean microfiber/lint-free cloth to gently dry your lenses. Avoid applying excessive pressure.
Only store your glasses in a cool, dry place.
Do Not Use
The following can damage your lenses, do not use:
- Optical lens cleaners
- Alcohol
- Face wash
- Harsh chemicals
- Detergents (Windex, laundry detergent, abrasive dish soap, etc.)
- Paper towels that aren't meant for optical lenses
- Tissues that aren't meant for optical lenses

About Avulux® Lenses
Axon Optics glasses are powered by Avulux® Migraine & Light Sensitivity Lenses
How do the Avulux lenses in my Axon Optics glasses work?
Blue, amber, and red wavelengths of light have been clinically shown to incite and worsen migraine attacks.
A small portion of the green light spectrum has been clinically shown to reduce migraine headache pain intensity or keep it constant.
The Avulux lenses contained within Axon Optics glasses precisely filter blue, amber, and red light while allowing a narrow band of green light through.
Avulux lenses have gone through 8 years of research and development and multiple independent clinical trials. Clinical studies performed with Avulux lenses show that by precisely filtering light, they may help people living with migraine.
Do Axon Optics glasses work for non-migraine related light sensitivity?
Currently, the lenses have only been clinically tested on subjects with migraine.
We recognize that everyone's situation is unique. You have 60 days to try Axon Optics glasses so you can confirm you're happy with your glasses. We offer 60-day returns on non-prescription/non-custom glasses.
Are Avulux lenses the same as FL-41 lenses?
No. The Avulux lens is a new, unique, patented, multi-band optical filtration technology that absorbs harmful blue, red, and amber light while allowing soothing green light through.
FL-41 is an older single-band, blue light filtration technology developed in the 1980’s to help wearers that are sensitive to fluorescent lighting.
Avulux lenses allow soothing green light through while filtering more blue light than FL-41 lenses and additionally precisely filtering amber and red light.
Are Avulux lenses blue light lenses?
Avulux lenses effectively absorb blue light, but they are not simple blue light lenses.
Avulux lenses absorb up to 97% of blue, amber and red light while allowing in soothing green light.
Studies have shown that white, blue, amber, and red light contribute to migraine pain and migraine symptom intensity.
Simple blue blocking lenses do not absorb the specific wavelengths of light that have been shown to be harmful to those with migraine.

Currently there is only one type of lens available and this lens does not change color but can be worn both indoors and outdoors with the same lens.
Do you offer an outdoor lens?

How to use Axon Optics glasses
When should I put on my Axon Optics?
It's important that you wear the glasses during daily events that tend to cause your migraine attacks and light-triggered pain to begin, such as prolonged time spent under harsh lighting, in front of a computer screen, television, smartphone, etc.
Otherwise, you should put your glasses on as soon as you feel migraine or light sensitivity symptoms beginning. This may be the earliest feeling of your typical migraine headache pain, or migraine aura such as visual disturbances, facial tingling, eye strain, eye pain etc.
If you have frequent migraine attacks or have chronic migraine, meaning that you average more than two migraine headaches weekly lasting at least 3 hours a day, you should consider always wearing your glasses, whether day or night.
Note: Due to the precision filtration properties of the Avulux lens, Axon Optics glasses are not suitable for driving.
How long should I keep my Axon Optics glasses on for?
Unless you're wearing your glasses continuously, you should wear them until your migraine attack or light sensitivity symptoms have passed.
If your symptoms have passed but you're planning to continue to be exposed to any triggers, we recommend that you keep the migraine glasses on until you complete your task, even if your symptoms have improved.
Will my Axon Optics glasses help while I’m on the computer for long hours or under harsh lighting?
Yes. Many Axon Optics wearers specifically report back that they're able to stay in front of screens and under harsh light for significantly longer than they were previously able to. In many cases, screen time and harsh light are no longer negatively impacting them. They're able to spend more time in front of the computer with their eyes remaining relaxed and comfortable.
What if I don’t see improvement with the glasses?
We offer a 60-day home trial period, and if you're not satisfied with how the glasses can help manage light, you may return them in original condition (no scratches or distortions).
It's important that your glasses are worn before the light-triggered pain becomes unbearable. Research has shown that light-triggered pain can be worsened through continuous exposure to light.
If you feel that your glasses aren’t helping you manage light as a trigger, we suggest wearing your glasses continuously throughout your day (and while in front of any digital screens or under harsh lighting) for at least two weeks so you can be sure about whether they're helping you manage light.
Note: Due to the precision filtration properties of the Avulux lens, Axon Optics glasses are not suitable for driving.
Can I use medical treatments in addition to wearing my Axon Optics glasses?
Axon Optics glasses should be used to help manage the impact of light on your daily activities and is safe to use as a complement to any treatment.
The goal is to best manage your migraine or light sensitivity symptoms.
Please consult your physician before starting or stopping any prescription medication.
Can I wear Axon Optics glasses while driving?
We do not recommend using your glasses for driving.
The Avulux lens is a precision filter that can block up to 97% of light at some areas on the visible spectrum.
Due to its high filtration, the lens is not suitable for driving per the ISO 12312-1:2013 standard for glasses.
